In the Spotlight
Welcome to Our New Site!
Welcome to the new and improved Poetry Out Loud website, just in time for the 2011-2012 season! Our new site has an updated design including easier navigation to help you find information you need faster.
One of the new features of this design is the addition of My Favorite Poems. No need to search for that perfect poem you forgot to bookmark: this section allows you to create and save your own list of poems and filter them by the Pre-20th century and 25-lines and fewer qualifications. All you need to do is set up an account with a user name and password and you are ready to save and share a list of favorites.
More exciting news: Poetry Out Loud now has an official YouTube channel. We have posted a few videos to get started, and we invite students, teachers and our state partners to post your own Poetry Out Loud videos.
And while the site may have changed, it still offers the same content, only better. As you’ll see, we have organized the bulk of the site into three main sections:
Poems & Performance—Everything a performer needs. Browse through our poems and poets archives, watch videos and listen to audio, and read through recitation tips.
Teacher Resources—The place to find information on teaching POL at a classroom level. Download the new Teacher’s Guide and access available Poetry Out Loud lesson plans.
The Competition—Organizing a POL contest? Find materials and rules for running a successful competition in your school.
It’s our hope that this redesign will benefit everyone involved at all levels of Poetry Out Loud. So have a look around and give us your feedback!
