Kim Addonizio

Kim Addonizio was born Kim Addie, but changed her name at seventeen when she discovered that her paternal grandparents had shortened their name when they immigrated from Italy. She grew up in Bethesda, Maryland, and eventually settled in the San Francisco Bay area. Though often written in traditional forms, Addonizio’s poems are unflinchingly candid in their treatment of modern romance, physical love, gritty street life, and tattoos.

What People are Saying

"I did not expect to fall in love with poetry. I just expected to recite and be done with it. After just sitting there and analyzing my poems, I realized that the stories told through these few words mean so much. I had to step out of myself and step into the author's shoes, and with that comes great work."
