Brigit Pegeen Kellyb. 1951
Brigit Pegeen Kelly won success early in her career when To the Place of Trumpets was chosen by James Merrill for the Yale Younger Poets series in 1987. Her second book, Song (1995) won the Lamont Poetry Prize and The Orchard, her latest, appeared in 2004. She has been nominated for the Pulitzer Prize and has won numerous fellowships and awards. Born in Palo Alto, California, she is now teaching at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign where she was awarded for excellence in teaching.
